Softball Game Preview: Rochester Warriors vs. Elma Eagles

The Rochester Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Elma Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Rochester couldn't beat Montesano on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Warriors fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Leah Hartley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Mckenna Vassar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Elma narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pe Ell/Willapa Valley 8-7.

Elma's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Rochester, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 11-5.

Rochester came out on top in a nail-biter against Elma in their previous meeting last Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
