Baseball Recap: Irvington Drops Highest Score of Season Against Monte Vista

The third road match was the charm for Irvington, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against the Monte Vista Mustangs by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Irvington got a great performance from Santiago Parks as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave Parks a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Wesley Ren and Brayden Kubiak did most of the damage at the plate: Ren scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Kubiak scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Brayden Jaksa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Irvington picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Irvington is taking a road trip to challenge Mt. Eden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Eden has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something Irvington will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monte Vista, they will be playing at home against College Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. College Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Monte Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
