Volleyball Game Preview: Spring Grove Lions vs. Mabel-Canton Cougars + How To Watch

Spring Grove is 0-10 against Mabel-Canton since November of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Lions will look to defend their home court against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Spring Grove made easy work of Houston and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Spring Grove was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-19, 25-16.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mabel-Canton challenged Schaeffer Academy on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mabel-Canton took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-5, 25-8.

Mabel-Canton found their leader in sophomore Kaci Wangsness, who had seven aces and four digs. Gwenyth Rein was another key player, getting 27 assists and six digs.

Mabel-Canton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.

Spring Grove's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Mabel-Canton, their win bumped their record up to 26-3.
