Basketball Recap: Hampton Park Christian vs. Lake Pointe Academy Mariners

Hampton Park Christian came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 70-38 win over Lake Pointe Academy at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hampton Park Christian had established a 22 point advantage.

It was another big night for Seth Moeder, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Trevor Gearhart was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Despite the loss, Lake Pointe Academy saw an underclassman step up: Joshua Luke scored 17 points.

Hampton Park Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Lake Pointe Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Hampton Park Christian will stay at home for another game and welcome the Lions at 8:30 p.m. on January 26th. Our Lady of the Rosary will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the are ranked 70th). As for Lake Pointe Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westgate Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
