Preview: Chico Panthers vs. Foothill Cougars
Chico is 2-8 against Foothill since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chico Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Foothill Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Chico posted their biggest win since November 20, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Red Bluff with a sharp 67-41 victory. Given Chico's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Red Bluff is ranked 793rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Magnus Nielsen, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Adam Brott, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Foothill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 65-53 to West Valley.
Chico's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
Chico didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Foothill when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-57 victory. Does Chico have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
