Basketball Recap: South Charlotte's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but South Charlotte ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 76-69 win over the Hickory Christian Academy Knights. That's more bragging rights for the Thunder, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

South Charlotte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Ball, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Ball a new career-high. Aaron Miller was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Hickory Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Cole, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Cole continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Massey, who went 7 of 13 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and four steals.

The victory (which was South Charlotte's third in a row) raised their record to 8-14. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Hickory Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

South Charlotte and Lake Norman Christian will face off at 6:45 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Hickory Christian Academy has already played their next matchup (against University Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
