Basketball Recap: Whiting Takes a Loss

Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Westwood Rebels and fell 86-31. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Rebels are ranked 108th).

Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Westwood, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiting will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Alta-Aurelia at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Whiting is facing Alta-Aurelia at the right time seeing as Alta-Aurelia is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Westwood also won't see the court for a while: their next matchup is against West Sioux at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
