Recap: St. Mary's vs. Providence Prep Rams

St. Mary lost against the Providence Prep Rams on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Mary's had to suffer through a rough 69-37 loss at the hands of the Rams. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Zimmerhanzel. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. That was a full 59.5% of St. Mary's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Asa Jackson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds for Providence Prep. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Billman, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Providence Prep, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

St. Mary's and the Soldiers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Providence Prep, they will head out on the road to take on the at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
