Basketball Game Preview: Miller Place Panthers vs. Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms

The Miller Place Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Miller Place is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Miller Place lost to Kings Park at home by a 53-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Kingsmen are ranked 202nd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ava Zicchinelli, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Orenzo, who posted 16 points.

Even though they lost, Miller Place was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bayport-Blue Point unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 47-37 to Kings Park back in December of 2024.

Miller Place's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Bayport-Blue Point, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Miller Place suffered a grim 49-28 defeat to Bayport-Blue Point in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Miller Place avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
