Basketball Recap: Marcus Browder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hammond Central over Munster

Hammond Central and Munster squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hammond Central had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Munster Mustangs by a score of 49-47. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Hammond Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Browder, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 24 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Browder has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 27 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gregory Dotson, who shot 78% from the field en route to 15 points and eight assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Hammond Central and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Munster, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Hammond Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Munster, they will face off against Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
