Basketball Recap: Woodlawn Takes a Loss

Woodlawn has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by the Christian Fenger Academy Titans and fell 98-48. While losing is never fun, Woodlawn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Christian Fenger Academy is ranked 165th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christian Fenger Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demarion Clark, who posted 26 points. Clark is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayden Taylor, who earned 20 points.

Woodlawn's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Christian Fenger Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Woodlawn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-36 win against Chicago Tech on the 14th. As for Christian Fenger Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Proviso East at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th.
