Volleyball Recap: Stuart Starts Season with Loss at Home

Stuart unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burwell Longhorns on Thursday. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Stuart was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-22.

Klaire Ramm paced Stuart's offense, picking up three kills. Ramm got some help from Kyra Tubbs and her eight assists. Finally, Paityn Sheffield kept Stuart's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Karsyn Bower, who had 17 digs and one assist. She has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 17 times she's played.

Coincidentally, Stuart and Burwell will both be playing Twin Loup the next time they take the court. The Broncos will host the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Longhorns will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
