Softball Recap: Pennfield Takes a Loss

Pennfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to Kellogg.

Alaina Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Pennfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erica Gregorie, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Mallorie Miller also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Pennfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Kellogg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-8.

Coming up, Pennfield will face off against Comstock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kellogg, they will be playing at home against Schoolcraft at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
