Softball Game Preview: Fremont Pathfinders vs. King/Drew Golden Eagles

Fremont is 0-10 against King/Drew since May of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Pathfinders will host the Golden Eagles at 2:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

Fremont took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Dorsey. The Pathfinders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, King/Drew hadn't done well against Harbor Teacher recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 8-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Golden Eagles have posted against the Monarchs since May 3, 2022.

Jordan Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Arianna Lawrence was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Xeniya Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

King/Drew was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win snapped Fremont's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for King/Drew, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-13.
