Softball Preview: Lyon County Lyons vs. Webster County Trojans
Lyon County hasn't had much luck against Webster County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lyons are taking a road trip to take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The last four games Lyon County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Lyon County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Webster County: they just beat Marshall County at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Lyons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Marshals a 2-0 shutout on Thursday.
Not much got past Lilly Perry, who gave up just six hits to keep Marshall County off the board.
On the hitting side, Lyon County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Courtney Collins, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Union County hit Webster County with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans lost 13-3 to the Braves. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chloe Papineau made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Warren, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Webster County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Lyon County, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.
