Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Abernathy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Slaton, Abernathy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They snuck past the Ropes Eagles with a 49-44 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Antelopes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 775th, while the Eagles are ranked 313th).

Abernathy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Ropes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abernathy will welcome Ralls at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ropes, they will host Whiteface at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
