Softball Recap: Eisenhower Cadets vs. Eastmont Wildcats

Eisenhower extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-12 in the process. They came up short against the Eastmont Wildcats, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Friday.

Abbiegail Vargas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

As for Eastmont, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

On Eastmont's side, Brittany Howe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Howe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ellie Holben was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Heinz, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eisenhower is set to face off against their familiar foe Sunnyside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eastmont will square off against rival Moses Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
