Recap: Centereach Cougars vs. West Islip Lions
The Centereach Cougars lost against the West Islip Lions back in October of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Centereach took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Islip. Centereach has not had much luck with West Islip recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Centereach's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Zaita, who picked up 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Adams also helped out as he racked up 118 receiving yards.
Centereach's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for West Islip, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Centereach will head out on the road to face off against West Islip at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Islip is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Centereach in New York (West Islip is ranked 95th, while Centereach is ranked 347th). As for West Islip, they will be playing at home against Centereach at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Centereach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Saturday.
