Softball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello and Piute squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Monticello had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 10-9. The Buckaroo have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Jocelyne Francom and Maya Lopez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Francom went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Lopez went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Lopez's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Barry, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Piute, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-12 record.

Monticello does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Piute, they have already played their next game, a 17-1 loss against South Sevier on the 3rd.
