Basketball Recap: Eldorado Golden Eagles vs. Rio Rancho Rams
Eldorado won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 89-59 loss at the hands of the Rio Rancho Rams. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Rams are ranked sixth).
Rio Rancho found their leader in sophomore Noah Lovato, who went 8 of 10 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lovato has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayden Decker, who posted 14 points and three steals.
Eldorado has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Rio Rancho, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Eldorado didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-72 loss against West Mesa on the 8th. As for Rio Rancho, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 97-56 win against Hope Christian on the 8th.
