Baseball Game Preview: Reedsport vs. Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs

Reedsport will venture away from home to square off against the Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Reedsport 2.4, Umpqua Valley Christian 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Reedsport will head out to face Umpqua Valley Christian after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Reedsport took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Myrtle Point.

Meanwhile, Umpqua Valley Christian came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Umpqua Valley Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Reedsport, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 14-2.

Reedsport suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Umpqua Valley Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Reedsport avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
