Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends the Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but The Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 59-42 bruising from the Middle Park Panthers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Despite the loss, The Academy still got an impressive performance from Dominik Konarski, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Boychuk, who posted 14 points.

Leading Middle Park to victory were Joey Gagnon and Luke Paugh. Gagnon shot 44% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to eight boards and six steals, while Paugh dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Gagnon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marqes Pasillas, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

The Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Middle Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

The Academy has already played their next match, a 66-28 victory against Platte Canyon on the 28th. As for Middle Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-42 win against Jefferson Academy on the 28th.
