Basketball Recap: Temple Baptist Takes a Loss

Temple Baptist fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Challenger on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Challenger Firebirds by a score of 58-55. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Temple Baptist saw an underclassman step up: freshman John Lewis posted 16 points. Lewis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lanning, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Challenger was led to victory by Riley Annis and Braelon Roe. Annis scored 23 points, while Roe put up 17 points. Annis' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

Temple Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Challenger, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Temple Baptist didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-35 victory against The Master's Academy on the 31st. As for Challenger, they have also already played their next contest, a 62-54 win against Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy on the 3rd.
