Gregory-Portland's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ray with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Texans: they've now won eight in a row.

The result came thanks to Audrey Diercks's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Keith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalysa Alvarado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Gregory-Portland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 12-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Alice came up short against Flour Bluff on Tuesday, falling 10-3. The Coyotes haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Gregory-Portland's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Alice, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.

Gregory-Portland took their win against Alice when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
