Baseball Recap: Bishop Feehan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bishop Fenwick

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Feehan). They blew past the Bishop Fenwick Crusaders 17-1 on Wednesday. The Shamrocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Ayden Mello and Jack Gasse dominated on the mound. Mello pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Gasse tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gasse has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Connor Pullen was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Randen May was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one triple.

Bishop Feehan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Bishop Feehan is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Bishop Fenwick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Feehan will welcome Bishop Stang at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Shamrocks 3.5, the Spartans 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bishop Fenwick, they will challenge Marblehead at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
