Softball Recap: Monticello Beats Crossett for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Monticello extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 15-7 in the process. They blew past the Crossett Eagles 12-1. The Billies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Alaina Lyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Addi Frazer was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Libby Kingston, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Monticello hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

As for Crossett, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Monticello: they've now lost six in a row.

On Crossett's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlyn Lindsey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will take on White Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Billies 3.7, the Bulldogs 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Crossett, they will challenge Star City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
