Soccer Recap: Goldsboro Comes Up Short

Goldsboro lost against North Johnston back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars lost 8-1 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Goldsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while North Johnston are ranked 188th).

Goldsboro has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10-3 record this season. As for North Johnston, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Looking ahead, Goldsboro will be playing in front of their home fans against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Johnston, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Neuse Charter at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
