Softball Recap: Quartz Hill Takes a Loss

Quartz Hill dropped their record down to 17-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Highland Bulldogs by a score of 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Royals, who until this matchup were averaging 3.46 runs allowed.

Brooklyn Terpstra made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Leanna Medina, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Highland's side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Reyes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Hayden Byrd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Quartz Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland, they will look to defend their home field on May 3 against Hart at 10:00 a.m.
