Softball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans

The Mt. Hope Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Woonsocket Villa Novans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Hope comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Monday, Mt. Hope came up short against Scituate and fell 10-5.

Callie DaPonte was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Waddell, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Woonsocket fell victim to Johnston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to the Panthers. The loss leaves the Villa Novans still looking for their first win of the season.

Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mt. Hope, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Mt. Hope couldn't quite get it done against Woonsocket in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
