Preview: Oak Ridge Wildcats vs. Campbell County Cougars
Oak Ridge is 10-0 against Campbell County since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Oak Ridge Wildcats will stay at home for another week and welcome the Campbell County Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Oak Ridge strolled past Lenoir City with points to spare, taking the game 30-12. Given Oak Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Lenoir City is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
De'Jauvis Dozier was his usual excellent self, rushing for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Oak Ridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Lenoir City's QB won't forget Elijah Bradley anytime soon given Bradley sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, even though Morristown-Hamblen East scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Campbell County still came out on top. Campbell County walked away with a 41-31 win over Morristown-Hamblen East. The win made it back-to-back wins for Campbell County.
Oak Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Campbell County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Oak Ridge against Campbell County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 41-6 win. Will Oak Ridge repeat their success, or does Campbell County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
