Baseball Recap: Pike Has No Trouble Against Beech Grove

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pike). Everything went their way against the Beech Grove Hornets on Friday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Pike got a massive performance out of Lincoln Sigmund, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Sigmund a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rory Weaver, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Pike always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beech Grove only posted an OBP of .435.

Pike's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Beech Grove, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Pike wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Southport on the 12th. Beech Grove has also already played their next contest (against Indian Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
