Softball Recap: Farina South Central Triumphs

Farina South Central won the last time they faced Christ Our Rock Lutheran and things went their way on Monday too. The Cougars walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Stallions.

Lauren Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Annie Ruholl, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Ruholl has posted since back in April. Emmie Ruholl was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Farina South Central now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Farina South Central will square off against Neoga at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, they will challenge Marquette Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
