Softball Recap: Woodford County Comes Up Short

Woodford County entered their match against Eastern on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Yellowjackets fell 4-1 to the Eagles. The game marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Woodford County got a good showing from Kylie Stamper, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Stamper has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Woodford County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Norah Ashburn, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Woodford County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Eastern, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs Woodford County Yellowjackets face off against Central Yellow Jackets at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Laurel at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
