Recap: Richmond Red Devils vs. Muncie Central Bearcats
The Richmond Red Devils put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over Muncie Central. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Richmond has scored all season.
Cedric Horton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Richmond's points.
Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady McNabb, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Xaviya Cook, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Richmond pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Muncie Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richmond won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Madison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Richmond is ranked 16th). As for Muncie Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Kokomo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kokomo's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
