Baseball Recap: Canfield Comes Up Short

Canfield lost against Sevier County on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cardinals fell 14-11 to the Smoky Bears. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Groner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Weibling, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.

Canfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Sevier County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Canfield and Sevier County will both be playing Jefferson County the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Smoky Bears will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
