Softball Recap: Spanish Fork Comes Up Short

Spanish Fork was the 11-0 winner over Cedar Valley when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dons fell 8-4 to the Aviators on Thursday. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lia Higginson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Ross, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Spanish Fork's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Cedar Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Spanish Fork will square off against Pleasant Grove at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Cedar Valley, they will challenge Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Aviators will need to watch out since the Thunder have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
