Baseball Game Preview: Edgar Wildcats vs. Assumption Royals

For the second straight game, Edgar will face off against Assumption. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Royals at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgar's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Assumption's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Edgar is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Assumption a 14-0 shutout on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Jase Apfelbeck was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Edgar is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Apfelbeck was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fletcher Weiland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Stahnke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Assumption's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Edgar, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
