Softball Recap: Meyersdale's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

Meyersdale dropped their record down to 5-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Red Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Berlin Brothersvalley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Considering they have won three matchups by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Berlin Brothersvalley's part, Elena Ritchey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ritchey has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Coral Prosser and Sam Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Prosser went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Walker went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Prosser has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elsie Barna, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meyersdale has already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against North Star on the 17th. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Windber on the 17th.
