Basketball Recap: Village Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Village Christian Academy lost against Fayetteville Academy back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Village Christian Academy Knights were outmatched by the Fayetteville Academy Eagles and fell 89-36. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Eagles are ranked 46th).

Despite the defeat, Village Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Langston Johnson posted 12 points.

Fayetteville Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Williams, who had 18 points. Another player making a difference was Rudd Sutton, who put up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Village Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Fayetteville Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Northwood Temple Academy the next time they take the court. Fayetteville Academy will host Northwood Temple Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Village Christian Academy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
