Softball Recap: Morse Sets Scoring Season-High Against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morse). They put the hurt on the Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Cobras with a sharp 19-9 victory on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Reylyn Sakamoto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dana Montero was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abby Okita, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Morse kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

Morse's record is now 6-4. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Morse wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-2 win against Sweetwater on the 11th. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-4 defeat against Chula Vista on the 10th.
