Baseball Recap: Biggs Wins Going Away Against Weed

While Biggs put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Weed. Biggs put the hurt on Weed with a sharp 6-0 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Dennis Dewhurst made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brady Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Biggs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Collin Beck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Biggs and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Weed, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
