Basketball Game Preview: Tennessee Vikings vs. Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones

Tennessee is 1-9 against Elizabethton since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tennessee Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones at 6:30 p.m. Tennessee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Tennessee is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 72-68 win over Sullivan East on Tuesday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Patriots are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Elizabethton came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Unicoi County 60-36 on Tuesday.

Tennessee's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13. As for Elizabethton, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.

Tennessee beat Elizabethton 65-54 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tennessee since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
