Basketball Recap: Allegany Comes Up Short at Home Against Southern

Allegany unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 59-42 bruising from the Southern Rams on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Campers of the 60-56 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Southern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carly Wilt, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Weaver, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Allegany didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-38 win against Jefferson on the 9th. As for Southern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-37 victory against Elkins on the 11th.
