Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Apex Friendship's 11th in Last 12 Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Apex Friendship ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Willow Spring Storm 3-2. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 11-10 victory the Storm walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Van Campbell looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Braden Bloom was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Apex Friendship has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Willow Spring, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-6.

Apex Friendship wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Cary on the 15th. As for Willow Spring, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-7 defeat against Leesville Road on the 14th.
