Richlands entered their tilt with Swansboro on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in March.

Makenzie Goin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richlands saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cami Teal, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Richlands hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansboro struck out 18 times.

Richlands pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Swansboro, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richlands will face off against Croatan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Swansboro, they will head out on the road to challenge Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
