Softball Recap: Kelso Drops Season-High Score on Evergreen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kelso). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Evergreen Plainsmen on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Skylar Richie, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kalli Carter was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Kelso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kelso is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Evergreen, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Kelso didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Prairie on the 1st. As for Evergreen, they will square off against Fort Vancouver at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
