Mitchell extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 6-5. Everything went their way against the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs as they made off with a 54-28 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-5.

Clayton Shultz was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 14 points and six steals. What's more, he also posted a 40% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2025. Another player making a difference was Norman Coley, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 13 points.

Mitchell was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They are 5-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

As for Gordon-Rushville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Gordon-Rushville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylon Holston almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Holston is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last five games he's played.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-43 victory against Chadron on the 10th. As for Gordon-Rushville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 67-33 win against Bayard on the 10th.
