Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claremont). They blew past the St. Lucy's Regents 61-13 on Saturday. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 24 points or more this season.
Despite the defeat, St. Lucy's saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Megan Cortes rushed for 39 yards and one score, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. The Regents also got a significant boost from Emma Ramirez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
The victory (which was Claremont's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.8 points over those games. As for St. Lucy's, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Claremont has already played their next game, a 27-13 defeat against Bonita on the 24th. As for St. Lucy's, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-13 loss against Upland on the 22nd.
