Baseball Game Preview: Soquel Knights vs. Harbor Pirates

Soquel hasn't had much luck against Harbor recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Knights will head out to face off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Soquel will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

If Soquel beats Harbor with four runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Knights beat Aptos on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1.

Dylan Hull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Soquel's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Whelan, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Gabe Virgallito was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Harbor came up short against Aptos on Friday, falling 16-2.

Soquel pushed their record up to 23-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Harbor, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Soquel took their victory against Harbor in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
