Basketball Recap: Oswego's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Oswego unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the North Central Thunderbirds 49-45. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 240th in Illinois, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 78th in Indiana).

Shelby Seay was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 18 on her way to 29 points in addition to five boards and three steals for North Central. With that strong performance, Seay is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Secrest, who posted five points and nine rebounds.

Oswego's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for North Central, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.

Oswego wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-45 win against Robinson on the 28th. As for North Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-39 defeat against Staunton on the 28th.
